Hello! I managed to whip up a very quick card using Clean & Simple's FTL40 for the card layout. I really loved how simple this card was to make, yet it's such a stunning look! We've been super busy this past week and so I haven't had much time to create and it looks like this is a sign of things to come for our summer. Why does it get so busy!? This is our last week of soccer though, so that will be one activity off our list.

for my dad

When I saw the new set, Boys Will Be Boys for the first time, I was so excited to see a golfing image! I knew exactly what I wanted to make for Father's Day because my 2 brothers and my husband take my dad out for 18 holes every year. It's a tradition that has become something they all look forward to and I wanted to make him something fun for that event. My dad has always made his own boxes for his pens or for little items in his workshop - so how perfect would it be to make him a box? I know he'll truly apreciate it.

I found this note card box tutorial by fellow Baker's Dozen gal, Laurie Schmidlin, on SplitcoastStampers, which is the perfect size for a golf ball and tee. I added an insert to the box so I could hold the golf ball in place. I cut out a piece of Cosmo Cricut (Lil' Man) patterned paper from the Father's Day Key Ingredients measuring 5-3/8" square and then scored it at 1" on every side. I cut out a circle with my Nestabilities and then followed Laurie's directions for the lid cover. To keep the ball in place I added a glue dot on the bottom. I attached the golf tee to the ric rac with thread and added the little golf ball charm. I can't wait to give this to him! OH, the best part is the sentiment "Hope your day is par-fect" - my dad is always saying things like that; little funny puns. Sometimes they are huge eye-rollers, but he has some funny ones too and this set reminds me of his funny moments. I used my spots and dots embossing folder on the metal sheet and I absolutely love the look and embosses like buttah! You can get both the metal charm assortment and metal sheets exclusively in the Boys Will Be Boys bundle, so don't let that get away.

The Father's Day Key Ingredients is one of my favorite kits so far - I love all of the colors; red, orange, and blue - so perfect for the men and boys in my life. And a ton of yum-o-licious buttons! It coordinates perfectly with the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set and you will have so much fun putting projects together with them.

all hail the grill master

Welcome to sneak peek day 2! Today I'm giving you a little peek at the newest in the Leave A Lasting Impression collection called Boys Will Be Boys, along with the new Father's Day Key Ingredients kit. This new set is AMAZING! I think it's one of my absolute favorite masculine sets - so many fantastic images, perfect for the men/boys in our life. Both the Father's Day Key Ingredients kit and Boys Will Be Boys set will be available for purchase tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM Pacific Time!!

For this card, I'm using Taylor's TECC66 sketch and curved rectangle Nestabilities. A few fun things to point out - first is the metal sheets that will be available on Tuesday in this month's bundle (more details on that tomorrow). I ran the metal sheet through my cuttlebug using the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder and then attached it to my card using these fun little screw brads that come in the Father's Day KI - the look reminds me of those workshop cabinets. Next, I stamped the BBQ in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in the legs and grill with my C1 Copic marker, then I stamped it again on black cardstock and paper-pieced the bowl of the BBQ. I did it! I made a masculine card! It's a very happy day, lol.

Let me just say that I am SO excited for today's post - not only is it the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, but it is also day ONE of the Taylored Expressions sneak peeks! Today's featured set is Doctor's Orders - it is full of fun images for both young and "old" and has so many cute possibilities. I'm using this little check-up image today and I thought it would be cute to have Dr. Cuppie in some scrubs! I paper-pieced the cuppie wrappers with East Coast Prep paper and then colored in the images with Copic markers. I made the turquoise frame by running the two largest square nestabilities through the Cuttlebug. I turned it over and stamped on the back with the sentiment I wanted to use and then cut that section out. Then I could fit the sentiment in the blank space of the frame easily. The frame and white image panel are both popped up with dimensional tape. A thought about this week's sketch - I'm kicking it up a notch with the outside frame. I've seen this technique done with scrapbook pages and I absolutely adore the look of it. When you make your card or project, the frame around the main square doesn't necessarily need to be made from cardstock. Feel free to draw the frame or paper-pierce around it or any other creative idea you may have. The sentiment should be in the frame somewhere though.

I found some time to stamp this morning using Amy Rysavy's Friday sketch. Hey, do you remember this ancient paper called Four Seasons? I found it the other day and thought I should use it - you should see the stash of retired paper I have, it's rediculous.
