Good morning - It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! Here is the deal: make a card with this layout and use the InLinkz button down at the very end of this post to enter your card. The links will close on Friday at 10 PM (Mountain Time), and I'll randomly select one card to feature on my blog on Saturday. So, as long as your card is linked by 10 PM Friday, your card will be in the drawing. Be sure to link directly to the blog post or gallery image which features your card. You may post a picture of the sketch on your blog, but please save the image to your computer first. Use the keyword SSSC98 if you plan to post your card in an online gallery.
In my last post I had mentioned my daughter was out in the front yard playing in shorts and a light jacket - well, not so much as I'm typing this - it's a balmy 9 degrees F with fluffy snow everywhere. All is right with the world again.
I'm so glad to be back stamping again - it was nice to have a little break, but I started to miss all the ink and paper cuts, lol! I thought I'd go for a quick and simple card this week - yeah, right. I bought these Marjolaine Woolies, from Basic Grey, and knew I wanted to use the tree for this sketch and I got the little owl punch for Christmas from a fabulous stamping friend, so he definitely needed to make it into the card. That's easy - paper, felt stickers, owl. DONE! Nope. This thing took me more than 4 hours to make because I kept fussing with it.
Rhinestones in the tree, rhinestones on the owl, rhinestones on the scallops, buttons in the corner, bow easy bow, sponging on the edges... and then when I was all finished, I had the brilliant idea to add the Thanks sentiment and totally screwed it up - dammmmmmit!! After a little surgery and patch job, I finished and I have to say, I love it much more than I did before the surgery, so chalk one up to a happy little accident.
The Sweet Sunday Stampers have amazing sketch samples to show you today, so stop on by to see:
Thanks for taking on the challenge this week!
Karen
recipe -
stamps: make the grade (taylored expressions)
paper: kraft, not quite navy, chocolate chip (stampin' up!), marjolaine (basic grey)
ink: dark brown fluid chalk ink (colorbox), memento rich cocoa
accessories: marjolaine woolies, designer buttons (stampin' up!), 2-step owl punch (stampin' up!), tiny twinkles (taylored expressions), chocolate stitched ribbon (taylored expressions), die-namics open scallop border (my favorite things), bow easy, embroidery thread
Adorable card, and I can see why it took quite some time to make, WOW!!! You have more patience than I do, which pays off since you have a gorgeous card to show for it.
ReplyDelete9 degrees? Holy hell. I'm freezing my tata's off just THINKING about that. Actually, I honestly can't even imagine that. Add about 70 degrees to that and I think that's about what the temperature is here right now, and 10:00 pm! But there's a nice cool ocean breeze, so all the windows are open. I'd like to see the snow, but man - 9 degrees? I don't know about that.
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention - that card is freakin' ADORABLE. Seriously. Those woolies are awesome and the owl? Too cute! Fabulous sketch this week too!

ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning work or art!!! I think you should frame it!!!!!!!! Isn't it always the case, when you think a card will be relatively quick it turns out to be a marathon? LOL!!! This one was definitely worth that marathon though!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and love the sketch! So glad you are continuing with them!
ReplyDeleteI live in Buffalo, NY and we were at 58 degrees yesterday! All of our snow (which we got LOT of in the beginning of December, closing schools and businesses) is all gone! I hate all the puddles and mud! I love the snow and the blizzards too! Happy 2011!
So glad to have your challenges back after the Holidays :) They definitely did good to your mojo - your card is totally amazing!! xxx
